We've had some wonderful feedback from our most recent Women's Wellness Retreat in August!
Here's what Heather, one of our retreat guests, had to share:

Women's Retreat @ Mosetlha

The Women Enough, Sacred Safari retreat was a powerful invitation to remember, release, and reclaim the beliefs that shape us — the ones we’ve inherited, the ones we’ve outgrown, and the ones we choose to carry forward.
This 5 day/4 night retreat brought together a group of incredible women gathered with courage and candour to share d deep stories of vulnerability and resilience - stories they have carried for a lifetime.

Guided by Julia, we moved through deep group discussions, somatic release, meditation, and quiet moments of reflection. Journaling sessions flowed into communal meals around the Mosetlha table, and game drives and bush walks offered space to integrate what was emerging.

For me, it arrived at exactly the right moment. As I step into a transitional stage of my life and career, the retreat helped me ground my beliefs, speak my truth more clearly, and redefine what success looks like with intention rather than momentum. It is the kind of experience I would recommend to anyone facing a pivotal moment or life-changing decision - it is the perfect gift of quiet in a noisy and busy world to tune into your intuition to guide your way.

Mosetlha Bush Camp

It's hard to explain the magic of Mosetlha in print, it is one of those rare places that you have to experience for yourself to truly understand it.  Its magic lies in how simply and honestly it brings you back to nature. From the authentic way the camp is designed to allow you to be close to nature, to  the carefully curated menus that take you on a journey of some of South Africa's most well known and much loved meals. Add two of the best rangers I have ever had the privilege of riding with and the game drives always delivery a wonder of sightings of animal behaviour that are unique (even though I have been many times). You also have the option of taking a bush walk with one of the rangers which has the potential to get you even closer to the action than you anticipated.

This trip in point, we saw the Big 5 within a couple of drives (lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo), the Magnificent 7 (adding wild dog/painted wolf and cheetah) and some of the more elusive animals like porcupine and Oryx/Gemsbok. If you are a birder then we added Marshal and Fish eagles to the list (to name only two) along with the kaleidoscope of other species such as the violet-eared waxbill, the crimson breasted shrike and the Lion King favourite - Zazu, the yellow billed hornbill.

The camp’s design is intentionally minimal, allowing the bush to be the centre of your experience. Mosetlha offers close encounters with the wildlife which can be viewed from the deck or may come to investigate the bird bath that is sat outside of Cabin 5. And every evening, returning from a drive to the soft glow of lanterns, your body naturally resets to the rhythm it craves - slower, quieter, more attuned.

Mosetlha offers sustainable simplicity, but never scarcity. It offers closeness, but never intrusion. It offers wonder, and somehow makes it feel entirely natural.

Julia Koutzayiotis

Drawing inspiration from the Native American, African, and Norse traditions, Julia Koutzayiotis embodies the timeless archetype of the intuitive protector - a woman who guides others through inner battles with courage, clarity, and spiritual intelligence.

Through her work in trauma release, NLP, hypnotherapy, and her message in Woman Enough, she stands as a modern expression of these ancient lineages: a warrior of the inner world that through a blend of emotional wisdom, strategic guidance, and deep healing helps women remember their truth, release inherited burdens, and reclaim the power that has always been theirs.

During the Women Enough, Sacred Safari retreat hosted by Mosetlha, she gave us the space to soften, to be witnessed, and to explore the parts of ourselves we often keep hidden. In her presence, vulnerability felt like strength, and transformation unfolded with a quiet inevitability. Julia guided us with the steadiness of someone who understands both the weight of inherited stories and the power of releasing them. What she created was more than a retreat, it was a return to ourselves, a reclamation of truth, and a reminder that every woman carries a warrior’s heart waiting to be reawakened.

We’re excited to plan future retreats and would love to keep you informed.

WOMAN ENOUGH - A Sacred Safari Retreat.

4 nights | Monday 10th - Friday 14th August 2026 | Madikwe Game Reserve

Step out of the chaos. Step into stillness.

Five restorative days deep in the African wilderness - no distractions, no noise. Just you, the bush and the Big Five...

Enjoy guided meditation and yoga, reflective group sessions, and game drives in the heart of malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve - the perfect intimate setting for you to unplug, be present, and return to yourself.

When did you last truly switch off?

There are places on this earth where the noise of the world simply falls away. Where the sky is so wide and the silence so deep that you remember – perhaps for the first time in years – who you really are.
Mosetlha is one of those places, offering a raw authenticity – the perfect intimate setting for you to unplug, be present, and return to yourself.

Join us in the heart of malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve for five transformative days in the African wilderness, guided by published author, life coach, and healer Julia Koutzayiotis – whose acclaimed book, Woman Enough, has helped women around the world reconnect with their truth, release what no longer serves them, and reclaim the woman within.

No electricity. No news. No noise.
Just you, the bush, the stars, and the gentle work of coming home to yourself.

With just 10 twin cabins, the retreat maintains a sense of space and ease, welcoming both solo travellers and anyone sharing with a friend.
Mornings are gently guided by Julia - blending yoga, meditation, and mindful coaching with opportunities for one-on-one guidance and free time.
Afternoons unfold on safari, and evenings invite rest beneath the stars.

With few distractions, the simplicity of life in the bush creates space for something rare: stillness.
Life is noisy, fast, and demanding. This is your pause.

THE EXPERIENCE

This is not a packed schedule. It’s intentional space.
Time to think. Time to breathe. Time to reconnect - without distraction.

Your days unfold gently, guided by the natural rhythm of the bush:
Dawn breaks over the reserve. You wake to the quiet of the bushveld as the day begins slowly around you. Choose between an optional guided bush walk with Justice through Big Five territory, or an embodied yoga practice as the sun rises above the trees.
Mid-morning is held by Julia. Guided meditation, meaningful conversation, and immersive sessions rooted in Woman Enough – remembering who you were before the world told you who to be, releasing what no longer serves you, and reclaiming your full, radiant self.
Afternoons are yours – to rest, journal, or simply be.
As the light turns gold, head out on an open vehicle with Jonny and Justice for a late afternoon safari through Madikwe – home to the Big Five, endangered wild dogs, cheetah, and over 350 bird species.
Sundowners in the bush. Dinner by firelight. A sky full of stars.

With just 10 cabins available, the retreat is designed to feel personal, unhurried, and deeply restorative – allowing for quiet reflection, meaningful connection, and genuine rest.

    Solo travellers
are warmly welcomed - most guests join on their own, and quickly find themselves part of a warm, supportive group of women sharing a deeply meaningful experience.
Here’s what a previous guest shared (and she’s returning this year):
"The retreat was a way to connect with others but have quiet time. I felt safe and welcome. The feeling of being completely and totally away from it all is what makes this place special. And yoga on the deck overlooking wildlife at sunrise was surreal."

    What you'll take with you:
    A slower rhythm.
A sense of calm that stays with you.
    Clarity where there was noise.
    Space where there was overwhelm.
And the simple, powerful feeling of coming back to yourself.

Last year's pilot Retreat was a great success, with guests leaving restored, inspired, and deeply connected to the bush and themselves:

“A fabulous mix of workshop and wildlife experience… Yoga on the deck, especially the night session, was magical. The camp itself was great, and the staff were helpful and unobtrusive.” – Cerina Green

“The camp offered a beautiful opportunity to disconnect from the busyness (and business) of the outside world and reconnect with ourselves. The simplicity of the cabins, nourishing home cooked meals, and the open deck (for yoga, stargazing, and watching the eclipse of the moon) were completely aligned with the philosophy of the retreat.” – Briony Liber

“This retreat nourished my mind, body, and spirit. I left with clarity, new friendships, and a deeper sense of self. I would highly recommend this experience to any woman looking for transformation, rest, community, or reconnection with nature..” – Meg Bryant

Mosetlha Eco Safari Experience sustainable travel Madikwe

    About the Lodge and Reserve

Mosetlha Bush Camp & Eco Lodge is family-owned and run, a rustic and intimate, unfenced Bush Camp in the heart of Madikwe Game Reserve. It is also the reserve’s only genuine Eco Lodge, and has been running for 30 years - the second lodge to be built in Madikwe.
Appealing to Explorers seeking the soul of the wild rather than the indulgence of a luxury hotel, Mosetlha offers a completely immersive wilderness experience that is easy on the planet (AND the pocket).

    Location:
Situated in the North West Province (with Botswana as its northern border) and one of our nearest malaria free, Big Five areas, Madikwe is a 3½ to 4 hour drive from Johannesburg, depending on which route you choose. Almost 75 000 hectares in extent, rugged, with an untouched beauty, Madikwe is the fourth largest Game Reserve in the country.

    Wildlife:
The wildlife is extensive and impressive. With the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and both black and white rhino) plus the extremely rare and endangered wild dog and cheetah and almost any other predator you can think of, a multitude of plains game and the latest bird list boasting over 350 species, Madikwe has earned its place as one of the most spectacular game viewing destinations in Southern Africa.

    Exclusivity:
The special thing about Madikwe is that no self-driving is permitted within the Reserve, or day trips – each lodge has qualified field guides that take guests out in game vehicles. This means you get a more exclusive Big 5 safari experience, without queues of cars converging around a sighting... read more.

    Conservation:
We are very proud to be a part of the important Madikwe conservation initiative and look forward to welcoming you to one of its best kept secrets – the little Bush Camp nestled at the very heart of the Reserve, where you really get the dust of Africa on your feet!

    Authentic Eco Safari Experience:
The simplicity of open fire cooking, no electricity or WiFi (despite this we are able to charge your camera batteries for you), safari showers (with hot water!) and raised wooden cabins lets you escape real life just for a while and appreciate a genuine bushveld experience.

Game drives through the entire Reserve in open 4x4's with professional guides give you the opportunity to enjoy the fascination of the wilderness and experience a true safari adventure.
