by Kelly Rabie - 14 May 2026
ECO SAFARI DAY EXPERIENCE
Mosetlha Bush Camp & Eco Lodge | Madikwe Game Reserve
Madikwe Game Reserve is one of South Africa’s most extraordinary wilderness areas - a vast Big Five reserve renowned for its conservation success, rich biodiversity, and exceptional game viewing. Experiencing it has traditionally meant an overnight stay.
Until now.
The full Mosetlha eco safari experience - in a day.
It's our invitation to guests who have always been curious about Madikwe, but haven’t yet made the journey. It's a full day in the bush - unhurried, grounded, and real - with our expert guides and our hospitality.
Not your regular 9-5...
Leave home at 9. Into Madikwe by 10. Brunch under the trees at Mosetlha by 11. Into the bush by noon. Bush tea in the wild at 2. Home by 5.
This is not a rushed visit. It is a meaningful day in the wild - and your first chapter of experiencing what Madikwe has to offer.
What your day looks like:
10:00 – Arrive at Madikwe Gate
10:30 – Meet your guide at the designated meeting point inside the reserve
11:00 – Arrive at Mosetlha for coffee & brunch
12:00 – Into the bush - your Eco Safari drive begins
14:00 – Bush tea stop - hot drinks & a light snack in the wild
16:00 – Return to your vehicle & exit the reserve
The rhythm of the day is shaped by the reserve itself. We move slowly. We allow space. We follow the animals, not the clock.
The details:
This is a fully guided, small-group wilderness experience in one of South Africa’s premier Big Five reserves, with entrance and conservation fees included.
R3 000 per person
Minimum 2 guests | Maximum 10 guests
We are keeping groups small by design. Ten guests maximum, so that the experience stays intimate, unhurried, and genuinely wild.
Included:
Entry into Madikwe Game Reserve, including gate fees and conservation levy,
Brunch at Mosetlha Bush Camp - one of the original unfenced, off-grid eco lodges in Madikwe Game Reserve,
Game drive with one of our expert guides,
Hot drinks and bush snack on the drive.
A full safari experience - without the commitment of an overnight stay.
Guests meet our team at NWPB Head Office inside the reserve. From there, you will be welcomed by one of our guides and transferred in our game viewer into Mosetlha, allowing the safari experience to begin the moment you enter the reserve.
Not included:
Alcoholic and soft drinks.
Guests are asked to bring a refillable water bottle - we do not stock single-use plastic bottles.
Staff gratuities (at your discretion).
Advance Booking Required
This experience must be booked in advance.
We are unable to accommodate walk-ins at the gate or same-day requests. Advance confirmation is essential to allow for catering, guide allocation, and overall logistics.
Full payment is required to secure your date.
This experience is intentionally limited to the cooler winter months to avoid the harsh mid-day heat, and to ensure the comfort of both our guests and our team.
Perfectly placed for:
- Gaborone - approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to the reserve gate
- Rustenburg - approximately 2 hours
- Pilanesberg & Sun City - approximately 2 hours
It is also ideal for travellers planning to drive past Madikwe on their way to or from the Botswana border.
If you are already in the region, this was designed with you in mind.
Why Mosetlha?
Running for 30 years, Mosetlha is one of the original lodges in Madikwe - unfenced, off-grid, and rooted in simplicity. There are no boundaries between you and the wilderness. Just the bush, the wildlife, and our team.
Our guides know this reserve deeply. The Eco Safari Day Experience gives you access to that knowledge, that landscape, and that table - for a day.
If this speaks to you
We are currently operating this experience during the winter period, with selected dates available in June and July (and some from end of May - so just ask!)
If you would like to join us, please GET IN TOUCH with your preferred date and group size, and we will confirm availability.
We look forward to welcoming you into the bush - even if it is only for a day.
